The EBIT project in Greifswald is a first step for experiments to be performed at the cryogenic storage ring (CSR), which is currently under construction at the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics (MPI-K) in Heidelberg.
A preliminary experiment to test the technology and techniques for the CSR and know autonomous experiment is the Cryogenic electrostatic Trap for Fast Ion Beams (CTF) at the MPI-K. Here atomic and molcular clusters are also investigating.
